INTERNATIONALER WETTBEWERB Moderation Gian-Philip Andreas, Ingrid Beerbaum, Ricardo Brunn Die Screenings werden i.d.R. in Originalversion mit englischen Untertiteln gezeigt. Die Gedichte liegen auf Deutsch oder in deutscher Übersetzung vor. Die besten Poesiefilme aus aller Welt – und die Welt im Mikrokosmos Poesiefilm: Hier trifft die von Corona leergefegte Stadt Rom auf Szenen einer Flucht aus Syrien, ein Gebet für Belarus auf eine versteckte queere Identität und die Message einer Schülerin an Boris Johnson auf unser ruiniertes Ökosystem. Rund 1.500 Einsendungen aus über 90 Ländern wurden für das ZEBRA Poetry Film Festival 2021 eingereicht. Eine Programmkommission hat 30 davon für den Internationalen Wettbewerb nominiert. Folgende Preise werden dieses Jahr von der dreiköpfigen internationalen Jury vergeben: der „ZEBRA-Preis für den besten Poesiefilm“, gestiftet vom Haus für Poesie, der „Goethe Filmpreis – Kulturen der Gleichberechtigung“, gestiftet vom Goethe-Institut, der „Preis für den besten Film für Toleranz“, gestiftet vom Auswärtigen Amt, sowie der „Ritter Sport Filmpreis“, gestiftet von der Alfred Ritter GmbH & Co. Die Geometrien von Autobahnen, Mülldeponien und Shopping Malls. Ausgesetzte Teddybären. Eine boxende Frau, allein in einem Fahrstuhl. Derweil betasten Hanqing Zhaos Gedichte den Schädel der Gegenwart, surreal und klar, entsättigt und kühl. Ein Horrorfilm, in dem der Horror nie geschieht. Spomenik III: Eyebombs GBR 2021 | 3 min R: Jack Wake-Walker G: Spomenik III: Eyebombs D: Simon Barraclough Versuch, ein Spomenik nachzubauen, in Worten und Animation – eine Annäherung an die futuristischen, oft wie Ufos in der Landschaft liegenden Kriegs- und Revolutionsdenkmäler aus dem Jugoslawien der Tito-Zeit. Ein sich windendes Gebilde aus Metaphern, ein Film-Gedicht concrète. Überreale Aufnahmen schrauben sich immer tiefer in Erinnerungen, geleitet von einem multi-ethnischen Bericht-Gedicht, organisiert nach der Farbfolge des Regenbogens. Bagatelle HUN 2021 | 2 min R: László Csáki G: Bagatelle D: György Petri Furiose Super-8-Aufnahmen, mit Found Footage montiert, während ein Gedicht von György Petri die Vor- und Nachteile des Niesens ausbuchstabiert. Überdreht und witzig, mit leicht pandemischem Twist. Wie viele verspielte Bilder, wie viele Bedeutungsebenen kann man in 1 ½ Minuten Poesiefilm packen? Und wohin jetzt mit dem ganzen Rotz? On Time POL 2021 | 6 min R: Zbigniew Czapla G: versch. Haikus D: Matsuo Bashō Geleise, Fahrpläne, Gesichter – eine Anthropologie des Reisens in japanischen Zügen. „On Time“ selbst reist high speed durch seine Stile: Realbilder, Übermalungen, Mangas. Wie bringt man Details aus Stichen im Schnitt zum Tanzen? Dazu meditieren Haikus von Bashōs übers Wandern durch die Jahreszeiten. Üç Selvi DEU 2020 | 1 min R: Zeynep Sıla Demircioğlu G: Üç Selvi D: Nâzım Hikmet Hoch allegorisches Gedicht des großen türkischen Dichters Nâzım Hikmet: das Fällen von drei Zypressen im Garten als Entwurzelung eines ganzen Volks durch Gewalt und Repression. In der Türkei von heute wieder erschreckend aktuell. Zeit für eine zarte, dringliche Neuentdeckung, als Animation in dunklen Tönen. Aber pass auf!… AUT 2021 | 3 min R: Hubert Sielecki G: Fünf kurze Texte D: Pavel Novotný Lippensynchron performte Satire. Fünf Solo-Rollen spielt Hubert Sielecki zu Gedichten von Pavel Novotny, vom verzweifelnden Professor über einen leistungsgetriebenen Arzt bis zum Demo-Schläger mit Lederweste. Eine Suada aus Vorurteilen, poetisch analysiert, zugespitzt und verhackstückt, bis sie zu Lautgedichten werden. Usliši nas! NLD + SVN 2020 | 5 min R: Anej Golčar G: Usliši nas! D: Anej Golčar Bäume sprechen zu Menschen, die sich für Gott halten, und sie doch nicht hören. Nicht hören wollen. Zu lang ist ihre Geschichte, zu langweilig. Während Menschen Hütten und Zäune mit ihnen bauen, Wölfe auf ihnen pfählen, das Ökosystem ruinieren. Visuelles Gedicht, liebevoll als Stop-Motion animiert. Selten sahen Rehe so traurig aus. Erinnerungsbilder schießen ein: Familienfotos, Trailerparks, mit weißen Geistern übermalt. Gespräche mit einem Kind nach dem Tod. Out-of-Body-Zeichnungen, unterlegt mit hypnotischen Zeilen von Louise Glück. Il Pasquino ITA 2020 | 3 min R: mira video G: Il Signor Pasquino D: Milena Tipaldo Historisches Material und seine künstlerische Aktualisierung: Das Satiremagazin „Pasquino“ aus Italien wird re-animiert, mit überschriebenen Originalillustrationen. Die Geschichten dreier seiner Autoren nachgezeichnet. 1856 bis 1956: 100 Jahre Kämpfe für die Freiheit politischer Kritik. Ein Archiv, verlebendigt, verspielt und kunstvoll. The screenings are normally shown in the original with English subtitles. The best Poetry Films from all over the world – and the world in the microcosm of the poetry film. Here, the city of Rome, swept empty of people by corona, clashes with scenes from a flight from Syria. A prayer for Belarus clashes with a hidden queer identity. And a schoolgirl’s message to Boris Johnson clashes with our ruined ecosystem. Around 1,500 entries from over 90 countries were submitted to the ZEBRA Poetry Film Festival 2021. A programme committee has nominated 30 of those poetry films for the international competition. The geometries of the motorway, rubbish tips and shopping malls. Discarded teddy bears. A boxing woman, alone in a lift. All the while, Hanqing Zhao’s poems feel the contours of the skull of the present, surreal and clear, in cool, desaturated colours. A horror film in which the horror never occurs. Spomenik III: Eyebombs GBR 2021 | 3 min D: Jack Wake-Walker P: Spomenik III: Eyebombs P: Simon Barraclough An attempt to build a reproduction of a spomenik in words and animation – an approach to the futuristic war and revolution memorial monuments from the Yugoslavia of the Tito era, that are often situated in the landscape like UFOs. A winding structure of metaphors, a concrete poem in film. Bagatelle HUN 2021 | 2 min D: László Csáki P: Bagatelle P: György Petri Furious Super-8 films cut together with found footage while a poem by György Petri spells out the pros and cons of sneezing. Exaggerated and funny, with a slight pandemic twist. How many playful images and how many levels of meaning can be packed into 1 1/2 minutes of poetry film? And where is all the snot supposed to go? On Time POL 2021 | 6 min D: Zbigniew Czapla P: versch. Haikus P: Matsuo Bashō Tracks, timetables and faces – an anthropology of travelling on Japanese trains. On Time itself travels at high speed through its styles: real images, overpaintings, mangas. How do you make details from etchings dance in the cut? Haikus by Bashō on wandering through the seasons meditate on this. Shockingly topical once more in today’s Turkey. Time for a tender, urgent rediscovery, as an animation in dark tones. But be careful!… AUT 2021 | 3 min D: Hubert Sielecki P: Fünf kurze Texte P: Pavel Novotný Lip synch satire. Hubert Sielecki plays five solo roles based on poems by Pavel Novotny, from the desperate professor to a performance-driven doctor to the demo thug in a leather waistcoat. A suada of prejudices, poetically analysed, exaggerated and hacked to pieces until they become sound poems. Hear Us Out NLD + SVN 2020 | 5 min D: Anej Golčar P: Usliši nas! P: Anej Golčar Trees talk to people who think they are god and yet do not hear, do not want to hear. Their history is too long and too boring. While people build cottages and fences with them, impale wolves on them and ruin the ecosystem. Visual poem, lovingly animated as stop-motion. Deer rarely looked so sad. The Italian satirical magazine “Pasquino” is reani-mated with overwritten original illustrations.
